About Dr. McBride

Dr. McBride graduated from Stanford University in 1995, and earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Michigan State University in 2002. She completed a clinical internship in the neuropsychology track at the Medical University of South Carolina – Department of Veterans Affairs Consortium. Her postdoctoral residency was done at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, where her clinical work and research focused on traumatic brain injury, memory disorders, and assessment of cognitive decline in older adults. In 2003 she became Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of South Florida, where she worked as the neuropsychologist for the USF Memory Disorders Clinic and psychotherapist for the Department of Psychiatry. She worked on a large, multi-site, Alzheimer’s study at the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr. Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute. Dr. McBride has published several peer-reviewed journal articles on cognitive functioning in dementia, traumatic brain injury, and psychiatric disorders. For 10 years, she worked as the neuropsychologist for the Morton Plant Madonna Ptak Center for Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders in Clearwater. She now has a full-time private practice in Tampa devoted to neuropsychological evaluation and psychotherapy with adults.  In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts, hiking, camping, and raising chickens.
